There are a number of research organizations in place at SIFT. The Institute of International Business at SIFT was nominated in

2008 as one of the key research institutes among common institutions of higher learning in Shanghai that are engaged in the study of humanities and social sciences. In 2009, it became one of the research bases for innovative study of social sciences in Shanghai and also the studio for the research of development strategies in Shanghai. In addition, there are over 40 research institutes at SIFT and two research institute affiliated to SIFT, namely, the Shanghai Association of International Trade and the WTO Shanghai Research Center.
