The School of Management, formerly known as the Department of International Business Administration established by the SUIBE in 1984, was formally established in July 2008 after several changes. It offers four undergraduate programs: Business Administration (Concentration in International Business Administration), Marketing (Concentration in International Marketing), Human Resource Management (Concentration in International Human Resource Management), and Cultural Industry Administration. It also boasts a master’s program in the top tier discipline category of Business Administration, three master’s programs in the second tier discipline category of Enterprise Administration, Marketing, and Human Resource Management, and a professional degree program of Master of Business Administration (MBA). Among them, the enterprise administration program is one of the key disciplines approved by the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission. In 2016, the School was recognized as a key research base for the humanities and social sciences project in Shanghai higher education institutions.
With the vision of becoming a leading business school with significant influence in China, the School, with the concept of gearing up to the demand in the era of digital intelligence, based on local practices, seeking academic excellence, and focusing on students, has set up a permanent platform for scientific research and social services, consisting of the “Key Laboratory of Data Science and Management Decision-Making” (2015) focusing on the business model and management innovation driven by big data, the “Center for Open Cases Access and Research” (2018) for research of local Chinese business cases, “Nantai & Junlin Brand Development Research Institute” (2020) for research of local Chinese enterprises and brands, and “Heart-talk Counseling Center” (2021) for teachers and students in SUIBE. The School is actively and unremittingly pursuing its mission to create new management knowledge, cultivate business elites and high-level compound management talent with global vision, innovative and entrepreneurial ability, and social responsibility to support the sustainable economic and social development of Shanghai and the country with talent, scholarly sources, and innovation.
The School has a virtuous top-level faculty rational in structure, excellent in academic research, and abundant in vitality. There are 50 full-time faculty members, 30 of whom hold senior professional titles, including 12 full professors, and 93.88% hold doctoral degrees. Faculty members with overseas study experience account for 85%. Many of them have been awarded honorary titles or medals, 1 Shanghai May Day Labor Medalist, 2 winners for Excellence in Teaching of Shanghai City, 4 prizewinners of “Bao Steel Education Award”, 3 prizewinners of “Shanghai Yucai Award”, 3 medalists of May 4th Medal for Shanghai Youths, 4 Women Pacesetters of Shanghai education system, 3 winners of Shuguang Scholar, 1 Professor of Special Appointment (Eastern Scholar), and 1 winner of “Meritorious Women Pacesetters” of Shanghai education system. The School also has one Member of the National Steering Committee for Master of Business Administration under the Ministry of Education. The teaching team of business administration courses was rated as a National Teaching Team (2009).
