On the morning of January 5th, Professor He Xuming, President of the International Statistical Institute (ISI), visited SUIBE’s Changning Campus for research and exchange. SUIBE President WangRongming attended the research activities and chaired the seminar.
WangRongming extended a warm welcome to President He and introduced the history and achievements of SUIBE's discipline of statistics. He stated that the ISI, as an authoritative academic organization with a history of over a century, plays a central role in promoting the development and cooperation of statistics globally. He expressed hope that this exchange will serve as an opportunity, leveraging Professor He's international perspective and academic influence, to inject new momentum into the high-quality development of the SUIBE's discipline of statistics, and propel the discipline towards the international forefront.
President He praised the rapid development and distinctive achievements of SUIBE's discipline of statistics. Drawing on his decades of experience in the field, he offered guidance and ideas for the discipline’s high-quality development. He suggested that the statistics discipline should identify its development positioning based on its own foundation, consolidate existing advantages while making targeted efforts, and strengthen core competitiveness through optimizing resource allocation and building consensus. Furthermore, considering new global trends in the industry, he advised the School of Statistics and Information to plan long-term development closely aligned with its characteristics, persistently cultivating expertise in niche areas to further enhance the discipline's core influence and comprehensive value.
During the seminar, leaders from the School of Statistics and Information reported on the school's development and distinctive strengths. Both sides engaged in exchanges and discussions on topics such as young faculty development, academic achievement cultivation, interdisciplinary innovation, and postgraduate student training.
