SUIBE Holds Council Meeting of Confucius Institute at University of Zagreb

On the morning of November 20, the Council Meeting of Confucius Institute at the University of Zagreb, Croatia, was held on Changning Campus of SUIBE. The meeting was attended by SUIBE President WangRongming and other Chinese board members, as well as Zagreb University Vice Presidents Jurica Pavicic and DubravkoMajetic, who represented the foreign board members.


 


At the conference, WangRongming stated that Confucius Institute at the University of Zagreb has successfully implemented diverse Chinese language teaching and cultural promotion programs. Serving as a vital platform for bilateral cooperation, Confucius Institute at the University of Zagreb has not only deepened collaboration through high-level exchanges, faculty-student exchanges, and joint research initiatives, but also significantly advanced mutual learning in humanities, education, and economic cooperation between China and Croatia. He expected both institutions to capitalize on this opportunity to build stronger consensus, explore deeper collaboration potential, and prioritize expanding faculty-student exchanges, joint training programs, and research partnerships in emerging fields such as statistics, information science, artificial intelligence, and big data.


 


JuricaPavicic fully acknowledged the educational achievements of Confucius Institute at the University of Zagreb and the dedicated efforts of both Chinese and foreign directors. He expressed hope to extend cooperation to more regions in Croatia through the development of Confucius Institute at the University of Zagreb. He emphasized that the University of Zagreb is committed to deepening and expanding collaborative initiatives between the two institutions, with the Confucius Institute serving as a representative project.



During the meeting, all council members heard, reviewed and approved the 2025 annual work summary and 2026 annual work plan of Confucius Institute at the University of Zagreb. They urged the institute to further emphasize its distinctive strengths in business, tourism, and creative industries, actively develop its Confucius Classroom, and continuously expand its social influence.


 


In the final session of the council, Wang Rongming and Jurica Pavicic jointly signed an agreement on continuing the collaboration in further developing Confucius Institute at the University of Zagreb.
