On September 18, during the 2025 WTO Public Forum, SUIBE successfully held a seminar in Geneva, Switzerland, titled Global Trade Realignment Amid Current Trade Turbulence. The seminar discussed the impact of US unilateral tariff measures on the multilateral trading system and trade among WTO members, as well as ways to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of developing members by strengthening the multilateral trading system.

The seminar was jointly organized by the School of International Organizations (Trade Negotiations School) and the WTO Chair Institute-China. Distinguished experts in attendance included Simon Evenett, Professor of the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) in Lausanne, Switzerland, Ju Jiandong, Chair Professor of Tsinghua University PBC School of Finance, Barbara Mamos, Chief of Strategies and Policies for Trade and investment at the International Trade Centre (ITC), and Luz Maria de La Mora, Director of UNCTAD's Division on International Trade and Commodities. Ms. Tian Wei, host of CGTN, served as the seminar coordinator.

The seminar focused on the current situation and prospects of digital trade in China and Latin America, explored the digital trade facilitation clauses in the upgraded version of the China-Peru Bilateral Trade Agreement, and exchanged views on policy measures that governments can adopt to promote digital trade between China and Latin America.

Harish Lyer, Head of the WTO Chairs Program, delivered the opening remarks, listened to the entire discussion, and took photos with the experts. In addition, he spoke highly of WTO Chair work at SUIBE.
