On the afternoon of September 16th, SUIBE held the Entrance Ceremony for the Class of 2025 Freshmen at the Stadium of Songjiang Campus. Qi Ming, Chairman of the University Council of SUIBE, SUIBE President Wang Rongming, Zhang Yiguo, Vice Chairman of the University Council and Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission of SUIBE, Shen Yi, Vice Chairman of the University Council and Vice President of SUIBE, SUIBE Vice President Xu Yonglin and other university leaders attended the ceremony. Teachers, students and parents and relatives watched the ceremony online. Wang Rongming delivered an opening speech titled “Forging a Growth Path on the Scroll of the Times”, and on behalf of the university, extended a warm welcome to the Class of 2025 freshmen who are embarking on a new journey of life.
Wang Rongming encouraged the new students to chart their course for the future and set the coordinates of their youth, making the most of their university years to grow and thrive. He urged them to embark on far-reaching journeys—to integrate their personal aspirations into the great cause of building a strong nation and realizing national rejuvenation, and to become outstanding talents in economics and trade in the new era. He called on them to pursue true knowledge and take solid steps forward—to carry forward the university’s spirit of “Seeking Truth and Pragmatism,” hone genuine abilities, test what they have learned through practice, and contribute to society. He also encouraged them to embrace the future and take the long view—to be “long-termists” who move steadily and resolutely with perseverance, and face the future with an open and broad mind.
Xu Peiwen, a student from the School of International Economics and Trade spoke on behalf of the undergraduate freshmen. Tian Haowen from the School of Accounting spoke on behalf of postgraduate freshmen. Polish student Gu Mengjie from the School of Business Administration spoke on behalf of international freshmen. Postgraduate student Cheng Xianjue from the School of Law, as a representative of current students, shared her “Four Arithmetic Operations Principle” during her six-year study at SUIBE. Dean Zhang Yun of the School of Financial Management spoke on behalf of the faculty. Ms. Wang Ying, a Class of 2005 SUIBE alumna, Chairman of KKS and founder of Cainiao, the logistics arm of Alibaba Group, spoke as the representative of outstanding alumni.
At the ceremony, university leaders on the rostrum presented school badges to representatives of freshmen, and all freshmen wore their school badges collectively.
Qi Ming received the university flag from Gao Jiaxin, a doctoral student of the Class of 2024, and solemnly passed it on to Chen Gaoang, a doctoral student of the Class of 2025. Below the stage, the flags of the 11 schools waved in unison with the university flag on the podium, fluttering proudly in the air.
