Recently, a send-off ceremony for the 5th cohort of volunteers under the“UNV-CYVA Chinese Youth Volunteer Overseas Volunteering Programme” was held at the Central School of Communist Youth League of China. A total of 53 UN program volunteers from 26 universities, including Tsinghua University, attended the ceremony. Through open application, university-level selection and public notification, interviews with UN agencies, and pre-service training, Fu Jiayang, a 2022 undergraduate student from the School of International Business, and Ma Le, a 2024 postgraduate student from the School of Global Governance (Trade Negotiations School), stood out and will provide six months of volunteer service at the International Organization for Migration (Fiji) and the UN Women Asia-Pacific Regional Office (Thailand) respectively. The youth volunteers participated in a five-day intensive training program at the Central School of Communist Youth League of China, which covered topics such as political theory, foreign affairs discipline, diplomatic etiquette, and an overview of the UN system.
Before the training, SUIBE held an exchange seminar for the 2025 “UNV-CYVA Chinese Youth Volunteer Overseas Volunteering Programme” at its Gubei Campus. In attendance were Vice Chairman of the University Council and SUIBE Vice President Shen Yi, as well as the two volunteers who will serve at UN agencies.
At the seminar, Shen Yi extended congratulations to the volunteers on their selection into the 5th cohort of the program and presented them with the school flag and emblems. She expressed her hope that the students would ground themselves in their professional expertise, apply what they have learned in practice, and fully demonstrate the professional competence of SUIBE students.
