SUIBE Leadership Conducted Intensive Research During Summer Vacation

To further deepen the comprehensive reform in higher education, enhance support for scientific innovation, better align talent cultivation with needs of enterprises, and formulate the 15th Five-Year Plan in a science-based manner, SUIBE leadership led delegations to conduct intensive research in Beijing, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Anhui, Chongqing, Shandong, Guangdong, Fujian and other places during this summer vacation. Through various visits to partner institutions, inter-university exchanges, university-enterprise negotiations, and alumni liaison, the research focused on a number of key fields. SUIBE leadership solicited suggestions from all relevant parties and pooled consensus on development, thereby injecting new impetus into the high-quality development of the university.

Qi Ming, Chairman of the University Council of SUIBE led a delegation to visit several organizations in Beijing, including the General Administration of Customs, the Ministry of Commerce, and Shunxing (China) Co., Ltd., where SUIBE alumni work. The delegation had in-depth discussions on key topics such as innovating talent cultivation, improving alumni relations, and deepening university-enterprise collaboration. They sincerely invited the alumni to return to campus for the 65th anniversary celebration to discuss future development together. In addition, they had exchanges with representatives from Beijing Foreign Studies University on the innovative development of higher education, discussing ways to break disciplinary barriers, build an interdisciplinary integrated cultivation system, and enhance the effectiveness of ideological and political education using new media technologies.

SUIBE President Wang Rongming led a delegation to Inner Mongolia, visiting Inner Mongolia University of Finance and Economics and Inner Mongolia Business&Trade Vocational College, and meeting with SUIBE staff members undertaking temporary posts. During exchanges with Inner Mongolia University of Finance and Economics, both sides expressed their intent to use “high-level opening-up” as a bridge for comprehensive and pragmatic collaboration, including joint development of leading disciplines and sharing platform resources. With Inner Mongolia Business&Trade Vocational College, they discussed deepening cooperation in areas such as joint training programs, faculty exchanges, and collaborative research. The delegation also toured the campus to gain first-hand insight, laying the groundwork for future implementation.

Wu Yi, Vice Chairman of the University Council of SUIBE led a delegation to Hefei, Anhui Province, where they visited the Hefei Economic Development Zone Urban Exhibition Center, NIO F1 Factory, Anhui University, and alumni-founded enterprises. The visit aimed to explore new pathways for enterprise-university-research institution cooperation, resulting in preliminary agreements on joint local-university research projects and innovative talent development models. Zhang Yiguo, Vice Chairman of the University Council of SUIBE and Secretary of Discipline Inspection Commission led a delegation to Chongqing. They engaged with the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce to discuss the establishment of specialized think tanks, and held talks with Chongqing University on collaboration regarding the Ministry of Commerce’s high-level export control talent training program. The delegation also reviewed a proposal from alumni to establish a Chongqing Research Institute. ShenYi, Vice Chairman of the University Council and Vice President of SUIBE visited Qingdao, Shandong Province, holding discussions with Shandong University (Qingdao Campus) on talent development and innovation in ideological and political education. The team also met with China-SCO related institutions to negotiate collaboration on international economic and trade training programs, while additionally meeting with Qingdao alumni and visiting local alumni-founded enterprises. SUIBE Vice President Xu Yonglin traveled to Shenzhen, Guangdong Province for an exchange with Shenzhen University on practices in personnel system reform, research organization and innovation, as well as talent development and enterprise-university collaboration. The delegation also identified key cooperation areas with Tencent, including digital trade, and held discussions with the SUIBE Shenzhen Alumni Association after visits to local alumni-founded companies. A delegation led by SUIBE Vice President Jiang Xiuzhen carried out research activities in Fujian, reaching preliminary collaboration intentions with the Fujian Provincial Department of Commerce on joint think tank research and talent development. They also exchanged views with Fuzhou University on the formulation of the 15th Five-Year Plan and interacted with the SUIBE Fujian Alumni Association.

This intensive summer research initiative represents a significant effort by the university to expand its collaboration network, advance comprehensive higher education reform, and achieve high-quality development. Moving forward, SUIBE will leverage the opportunity presented by comprehensive reform and the formulation of the 15th Five-Year Plan to translate research findings into concrete actions. These efforts will further enhance the quality of talent cultivation and better serve regional economic development and the national strategy for opening-up.
