Secretary of CPC Songjiang District Committee visited SUIBE

On the afternoon of August 8th, Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Songjiang District Committee Wang Huajie led a delegation to visit SUIBE for research and inspection. Qi Ming, Chairman of the University Council of SUIBE and Wang Rongming, SUIBE President attended a symposium, which was presided over by Qi Ming.


On behalf of the District Committee and District Government, WangHuajie expressed gratitude to SUIBE for its contributions to Songjiang’s economic and social development. He stated that Songjiang was currently implementing the guiding principles laid out in Secretary of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee Chen Jining’s remarks during inspection tour in Songjiang, aligning itself with the functional positioning of the “Four Zones” and striving to win the critical battle of transformation and development in key areas. He hopes that both the district and the university will seize the opportunity presented by an initiative to build Songjiang University Town into a source of sci-tech innovation, make full use of its development coordination mechanism, leverage the university’s comparative advantages in areas such as think tank consulting, enterprise global expansion services, trade in services, and digital trade, deepen the integrated development of education, technology, and talent, and collaborate to achieve mutual benefits and win-win outcomes.


Qi Ming introduced the university’s reforms and development in recent years, emphasizing that the university will seize the opportunity of comprehensively deepening higher education reform and the construction of the Songjiang University Town Science and Innovation Source. By leveraging its distinctive strengths in talent cultivation, discipline development, and think tank research, the university will closely align with the development needs of Songjiang’s modern industrial system, explore new models of university-local collaboration, and better support the economic and social development of Songjiang.


Wang Rongming introduced the university’s efforts in leveraging its distinctive strengths to support Songjiang’s development. He stated that the university will remain committed to serving science and innovation and nurturing talent for industries, further exerting its specialized advantages to build a dual-engine drive of “scientific innovation + openness,” enhance the supply of talent for enterprises expanding overseas, support the quality upgrade of innovation and entrepreneurship, and deepen the integrated reform of education across all levels. These initiatives will better contribute to Songjiang’s “Four Zones” initiative and jointly advance new and greater contributions to national strategic goals.


Prior to the symposium, WangHuajie visited the university’s history museum, where he listened to SUIBE's historical development, distinctive educational features, and talent cultivation efforts, as well as the achievements made through its reform and development.
