On May 13th, SUIBE held the 28th Sports Meeting at the track and field ground of its Songjiang Campus. Qi Ming, Chairman of the University Council of SUIBE, Wang Rongming, President of SUIBE, Wu Yi, Vice Chairman of the University Council of SUIBE Shen Yi, Vice Chairman of the University Council of SUIBE and SUIBE Vice President, and SUIBE Vice Presidents Xu Yonglin and Jiang Xiuzhen attended the opening ceremony. Xu Yonglin presided over the ceremony.
At the opening ceremony, Qi Ming read out an initiative about fitness and mental well-being promotion and declared the 28th Sports Meeting open.
Wang Rongming stated in his speech that the university has always upheld the school motto of “Stay Honest, Inclusive, Knowledgeable and Pragmatic”, with “knowledge growth under physical and mental health” as the core of its sports work.In recent years, SUIBE has achieved remarkable results in inheriting traditional Chinese sports culture and reforming digital intelligence courses.
As the sports meeting officially opened, students ran forward waving Chinese national flags to the sound of music, drawing thunderous applause from the audience. In the following cultural and sports performances, a diverse array of displays — including faculty group calisthenics, student cheerleading, dragon dancing, traditional Chinese archery, diabolo, rope jumping, tai chi fan, Chinese swordsmanship, and Chinese martial arts — showcased the vitality and evolving spirit of Chinese sports culture.
At around 10 a.m., the sports meeting entered the competition session. Students from 14 schools and faculty teams from 19 departments participated in the games. 936 athletes competed in 26 events across three categories: competitive sports, fun games, and demonstration activities, creating a vibrant atmosphere of widespread participation in national fitness activities among the entire university community.
