SUIBE Meets with Japanese Consul General and His Delegation

On the morning of April 18th, Qi Ming, Chairman of SUIBE Council, met with Ambassador Masaru Okada, the Consul General of Japan in Shanghai, and his delegation. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening exchanges and cooperation between SUIBE and Japanese universities.

Qi Ming extended a warm welcome to Masaru Okada and his team, providing an overview of SUIBE’s efforts in talent development, scientific research, and contributions to national and regional development strategies. He highlighted that SUIBE places high importance on international cooperation in education. For example, SUIBE has established inter-university partnerships with over a dozen Japanese universities and actively launched faculty and student mutual visit programs, joint talent cultivation, and academic exchanges. All these efforts have promoted educational collaboration and cultural exchanges between universities of both countries, and deepened mutual understanding and friendship among the younger generation.

Okada commended SUIBE’s outstanding achievements in talent cultivation, expressing heartfelt gratitude for SUIBE’s efforts to create a secure and enabling environment for international students. He was pleased to learn that SUIBE has set up Japan Economic Research Center. He noted that economic development serves not only as the cornerstone of China-Japan relations, but also as a vital link connecting nations worldwide. He pledged to continue advocating for all-round and multi-tiered exchange and cooperation between Chinese and Japanese universities.
