SUIBE Holds 2024-2025 Council Meeting of Confucius Institute at University of Zagreb

On the afternoon of April 16th, the Council Meeting of Confucius Institute at the University of Zagreb, Croatia, was held on Gubei Campus of SUIBE. Presented at the meeting were SUIBE president Wang Rongming, serving as the Chinese Chairman of the Confucius Institute Council, Chinese Council members, and foreign Council members from the University of Zagreb, including Vice-Presidents Jurica Pavicic, Tomislav Josip Milinaric, and Dubravko Majetic.


 

Wang Rongming extended a warm welcome and expressed gratitude to the delegation from the University of Zagreb. He reviewed SUIBE’s recent progress on talent cultivation, academic discipline development, think tank research, and international cooperation exchanges. The two institutions, leveraging the Confucius Institute as a bridge, have forged comprehensive partnerships spanning high-level exchanges, faculty exchanges, student exchange programs, and joint research, yielding substantial outcomes. He affirmed SUIBE’s unwavering commitment to the characteristic development of the Confucius Institute at the University of Zagreb while deepening bilateral exchanges and cooperation. He hopes that the Confucius Institute at the University of Zagreb will better play its role as a bridge for China-Croatia economic and trade cooperation, actively providing support and services to facilitate the international expansion of Chinese enterprises. By doing so, it will help these enterprises achieve high-quality growth in the global market while generating more tangible social and cultural value.


 

Jurica Pavicic expressed his gratitude for SUIBE’s invitation, emphasizing that the cooperation between the two institutions through the Confucius Institute embodies its founding mission. He sincerely hopes that the two universities will continuously expand cooperation areas and enrich the essence of the cooperation. The University of Zagreb is willing to strengthen the support for the Confucius Institute and actively enhance cooperation between SUIBE and Croatia’s universities and research institutions, making greater contributions to China-Croatia educational and cultural exchanges, he added.


 

During the meeting, the council heard a work report for 2024, then reviewed and approved a work plan for 2025, calling on the Confucius Institute to innovate pedagogical approaches, streamline resource allocation, and improve educational standards.
