On the morning of April 10th, SUIBE President Wang Rongming met with Gonzalo Figueroa, Chilean Consul General in Shanghai, representatives from the University of Chile Claudio Muoz, Max Iriarte, and Pablo Aguilera, and Professor José Alonso from the University of Lleida, Spain, on SUIBE’s Gubei campus. The meeting was attended by representatives from SUIBE’s International Office and the MBA Education Center of the School of Management.
Wang Rongming extended a warm welcome to Consul General Gonzalo Figueroa and the delegation from the University of Chile. He briefed the guests on the SUIBE’s latest developments, emphasizing that SUIBE will leverage the dual drivers of applied economics and statistics to actively promote the deep integration and innovative development of artificial intelligence, digital information technologies, and its traditional strengths. He underscored the university’s commitment to accelerating the cultivation of high-demand professionals in areas such as digital economy talent, international finance specialists, legal experts with global expertise, and future talents for international organizations. Wang Rongming expressed SUIBE’s aspiration to establish partnerships with more universities in Chile and Spain, including the University of Chile, to advance multidisciplinary collaboration and exchanges. He noted that such efforts would bolster friendly ties between China and Chile in cultural, educational, and economic domains.
In response, Consul General Figueroa thanked SUIBE for its hospitality and stated that the visit aimed to build on last year’s interactions, furthering substantive cooperation between Chilean universities and SUIBE. He highlighted plans to implement concrete initiatives such as student exchange programs and invited SUIBE delegations to visit Chile to strengthen bilateral educational and cultural exchanges.
