On the morning of April 8th, a face-to-face with SUIBE president activity was held at the student residential community in the Songjiang Campus. This themed activity was one of salon series on building better study environment for undergraduate, master, and doctorate programs. SUIBE President Wang Rongming attended the event and delivered a speech, joined by outstanding student representatives from undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs.
Wang Rongming acknowledged the achievements and growth students have attained during their time on campus. Focusing on the new circumstances and tasks facing the university as well as the university’s innovative practices in deepening talent cultivation reforms, he elaborated on the institution’s consistent adherence to the “student-centered” educational philosophy and its concrete measures. He also shared his personal reflections and insights amid the profound digital transformation sweeping higher education. Wang Rongming encouraged students to always hold onto noble ideals, maintain their passion and sincerity, and actively engage in interdisciplinary and cross-domain exchanges and collaboration, dedicating themselves to the present with a pragmatic and truth-seeking attitude. He urged them to proactively embrace the changes of the times, strengthen the integration of knowledge and action, and closely align their learning, thinking, and aspirations with the nation’s developmental needs, anchoring their direction through focused efforts. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of continuously honing resilience, confronting challenges head-on, and pursuing long-term goals with unwavering perseverance. He called on SUIBE students to lead innovation in the tides of the era and write their own vibrant chapters of youth by inspiring more peers to join this journey.
During a faculty-student exchange session, Gao Jiaxin from the School of International Business, Huang Bin from the School of Statistics and Information, and Zhang Xinyi from the School of Management shared their stories as representatives of doctoral, master’s, and undergraduate students, respectively. They elaborated on their unique journeys: pursuing continuous academic excellence through a combined master’s-doctoral program, forging a bond with AI under interdisciplinary training, and integrating theory with practice for well-rounded development.
At the conclusion of the event, Wang Rongming presented books to students and posed for group photos to commemorate the occasion.
