On February 20th and 21st , SUIBE convened its 2025 Spring Semester Strategic Development Conference and Faculty Assemblyin Room 506 of the comprehensive building at the Gubei Campus. Qi Ming, Chairman of the Council of SUIBE, delivered a summary speech. Wang Rongming, SUIBE President gave a mobilization speech. Wu Yi, Deputy Chairman of the Council of SUIBE, Zhang Yiguo, Deputy Chairman of the UCouncil of SUIBE and Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission, Shen Yi, Deputy Chairman of the Council of SUIBE and Vice President and Xu Yonglin, SUIBE Vice President presided over different segments of the meeting and commented on keynote reports.
In his concluding speech titled “Mobilizing Reform Momentum through Strategic Breakthroughs, Striving to Improve Quality in Right Direction”, Qi Ming extended gratitude to faculty members for their hardworking in winter break and conveyed the directives from the Shanghai Higher Education Leadership Conference. Based on the requirements of the National Education Conference, the 2024-2035 Compendium on Building China into a Leading Country in Education, and the understanding of the spirit of the Shanghai Education Conference, he assigned the key tasks and set the specific requirements.
First, accurately understanding the latest national and Shanghai deployment requirements for deepening reforms in 2025 to enhance the sense of urgency, responsibility, and mission. Second, clarifying directions and destructing after constructing to ensure the implementation of key reform initiatives. Third, taking responsibility and woking creatively to form a strong collective force for reform breakthroughs.
In his mobilization speech, Wang Rongming extended Spring Festival greetings and best wishes to the faculty and staff on behalf of SUIBE. He highlighted the background and significance of the meeting, as well as SUIBE’s development priorities in the near future, with a focus on deepening comprehensive reforms. He shared insights on optimizing academic disciplines, fully empowering education with artificial intelligence, accelerating industry-education integration, and improving governance efficiency. He encouraged everyone to achieve significant progress in 2025 and make satisfactory achievements for SUIBE’s high-quality development by uniting, facing challenges and seizing opportunities.
SUIBE invited Professor Yang Xiaokang, Executive Dean of the Institute of Artificial Intelligence from Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), to deliver a keynote speech titled “New Productive Forces in the Era of Human-Machine Symbiosis: From Large Models to Embodied Intelligence.” Other keynote speakers included Zhao Qian, Deputy Director of the Development Planning Office (in charge of daily operations), who spoke on “Raising the Banner and Forging Ahead: Unleashing Internal Dynamics through Comprehensive Reform to Build a New Pattern of High-Quality Development”; Zhang Tiezhu, Director of the Faculty Affairs Department and Head of the Personnel Office, who gave a report on “Comprehensively Deepening Personnel System Reform and Taking Multiple Measures to Build a First-Class Faculty”; Zhu Jianming, Director of the Academic Affairs Office, who focused on “Optimizing Goals, Innovating Models, and Cultivating Outstanding International Business and Economics Talents”; and Chen Jialin, Member of the University Council of SUIBE and Director of the Organization Department, who discussed “Deepening Internal Governance Reform, Stimulating School-Running Vitality, and Promoting High-Quality Development of the University” .
