Distinguished alumnus of SUIBE Professor Zhou Hanmin returned to SUIBE at the invitation of School of Law to watch the master play Qiu Shaoheng on Oct. 11th, the 64th anniversary of SUIBE and days ahead of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of SUIBE School of Law. Qiu Bin, the family member of Professor Qiu Shaoheng, was also invited to watch the play. Prior to the performance, Zhou, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), former Vice Chairman of the Shanghai Municipal CPPCC, and Honorary Dean of the School of Law, made a special visit to the Songjiang Campus Library, accompanied by the heads of library and the School of Law.
Zhou and his delegation paid homage to the statues of the two masters, Qiu Shaoheng and Wang Yaotian, expressing their profound respect and deep remembrance.
He also visited the exhibition of Professor Wang Yaotian’s Manuscripts, reminiscing about the glorious experience of Professor Wang contributing to China’s return to the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) and then the accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO). Zhou also visited the “Trade Powerhouse, Education Powerhouse” thematic literature exhibition.
In front of the “Hanmin’s Book Recommendations” thematic bookshelf, Zhou shared his original intention of and thoughts on donating books to SUIBE. He highly commended SUIBE’s efforts in showing and inheriting the spirit of the masters, supporting academic development, and carrying out cultural education. He said he would continue donating his new works and personal collection to the library.
