Qi Ming vividly recounted to new students SUIBE’s journey of progress—its establishment to enhance the country’s trade growth, its growth alongside China's opening-up policy, its flourishing through comprehensive reforms, and its renewed vigor in the new era of openness. He then interpreted the school motto of “Integrity, Tolerance, Erudition, Pragmatism”, and told the story behind the school emblem, which symbolizes SUIBE’s embrace of diversity and pursuit of boundless learning.
Embracing the New Era, Cultivating Positive Aspirations
Qi Ming stated that the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the National Conference on Education have clearly outlined the strategic blueprint for building China into an educational powerhouse. He encouraged the incoming students to carry forward the fine traditions of the Chinese nation, bravely shoulder the historical responsibilities entrusted by the times, and actively engage in the historical tide of realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, thereby forging themselves into capable young people with sound moral grounding, intellectual ability, physical vigor, aesthetic sensibility, and work skills who will fully develop socialism and carry forward the socialist cause.
Fulfilling Responsibility, Writing a Brilliant Chapter in Chinese Modernization with concrete efforts
By sharing a series of lively and touching stories, Qi Ming encouraged the students to live up to the times with ideals, a sense of responsibility, toughness, and dedication. He suggested that they start a new chapter in the university with positive lifestyles, sound physical and psychological health, harmonious interpersonal relationships, and effective academic and career planning. He expected them to write a magnificent new chapter of their youth on China’s new journey to further deepen comprehensive reforms and pursue the goals of Chinese modernization.
