From September 5 to 6, SUIBE held the 2024 Fall Semester Planning Meeting and Faculty Conference in Room 506 of the Comprehensive Building of the Gubei Campus. Qi Ming, Chairman of the University Council of SUIBE, delivered a summary speech, and Wang Rongming, SUIBE president, made a mobilization speech. Wu Yi, Vice Chairman of the University Council of SUIBE, presided over relevant segments and provided commentary on keynote reports, and SUIBE vice presidents Xu Yonglin and Jiang Xiuzhen delivered the keynote reports respectively.
In his concluding remarks, Qi Ming shared insights from recent higher-level meetings and outlined key tasks focused on the strategic goals of advancing SUIBE’s high-quality development and deepening comprehensive reforms. He urged the attendees to accurately understand the strategic implications and value orientation of the new round of reforms and the urgency of implementing these reforms. He requested them to focus on the systematic integration of reform measures and concentrate efforts on key areas to continuously push targeted reforms forward. He also required the attendees to firmly establish the concept that reform involves everyone, advocating for advancing pragmatic reforms in a steady manner.
Wang Rongming explained the background and significance of the meeting, analyzed SUIBE’s current situation and tasks, and emphasized the importance of understanding national conditions, comprehending local realities, keeping pace with social developments, and aligning with SUIBE’s specific context to identify the priorities for reform and development. To better advance specific tasks, Wang Rongming emphasized the need to align efforts with the goals set by the Party Congress, focusing on the three key themes of High Standards, Distinctive Characteristics and New Technologies, and mastering five fundamental competencies.
Xu Yonglin delivered a keynote report titled “Taking the Initiative to Transform: Cultivating Talent for the Nation through AI-Enabled Education and Targeted Training of Critical Talents.” Jiang Xiuzhen delivered a keynote report titled “Promoting Innovation through New Approaches and Enhancing Quality through Systems: Deepening Reforms in Professional Degree Education and Laboratory Construction.”
The participants had discussions in 6 groups, sharing what they had learned as well as their work plans and suggestions.
