SUIBE Leaders Visit WTO and Partner Institutions in Switzerland and the Netherlands

Zhang Yiguo, Vice Chairman of the University Council of SUIBE, led a delegation to visit the World Trade Institute (WTI) of the University of Bern, Switzerland, as well as the World Trade Organization (WTO), HAN University of Applied Science and Rotterdam Business School in the Netherlands. This visit aimed at further implementing the university’s internationalization strategy, expanding and strengthening its global cooperation network, further enhancing cooperation with international organizations and universities in Europe, and continuously improving the quality of international cooperation,


 


 

 


 


 

During the visit, the delegation engaged in in-depth discussions with the WTI at the University of Bern on deepening bilateral cooperation in joint training programs for international business talent, exchange of teachers’ visits, and collaborative research. Both parties reached a consensus on further expanding and deepening cooperation.


 

The delegation met with Zhang Xiangchen, Deputy Director-General of the WTO and the Permanent Mission of China to WTO, and held talks with the Department of WTO Chairs and the Department of Training and Technical Cooperation of WTO. The delegation held extensive and in-depth discussions with Li Yihong, Minister of the Permanent Mission of China to the WTO, on the provision of research and educational support for multilateral trade negotiations, foreign trade dispute settlement mechanism and training of talents for international organizations. Additionally, the delegation discussed with the Department of WTO Chairs on knowledge and information management, academic outreach, and future activities related to the Chair Program. They also deliberated with the WTO Institute for Training and Technical Cooperation on the specific preparations for the 2024 Regional Trade Policy Course.


 


 


 


 


 

 

 

 

The delegation held extensive discussions with representatives from HAN University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands, on in-depth cooperation in areas such as faculty and student exchanges, international business talent cultivation, high-level joint training programs, and collaborative research. At Rotterdam Business School, the delegation had in-depth exchanges with the school leaders on faculty and student exchanges, curriculum development, student training, and collaborative research. Both parties reached a consensus on advancing cooperation in these areas.
