On the morning of April 28th, Rodolfo Sanz, Vice Chairman of the China-Venezuela Parliamentary Friendship Group of the VenezuelaNational Assembly of Venezuela, Atilio Villasmil, the Consul General of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Shanghai, Alexander Suarez, the Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of Carabobo State, Venezuela, led a delegation to visit SUIBE. SUIBE president Wang Rongming met with the delegation.
Wang Rongming extended a warm welcome to the delegation and provided an in-depth overview of SUIBE’s development and characteristics, talent training, contributions to national and Shanghai urban development, internationalization strategy, and cooperation with universities in Latin America. He pointed out that this year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Venezuela, and the visit of the delegation has created important opportunities for cooperation in the field of higher education between Shanghai and Venezuela. He expressed the hope that under the “Belt and Road Initiative, SUIBE could cooperate with Venezuelan universities and research institutions in more fields in the future, so as to achieve higher-quality development and actively contribute tothe opening up of Chinese education through higher-level international cooperation, and better serve national strategies and Shanghai’s development.
On behalf of the delegation, Rodolfo Sanz thanked SUIBE for its warm reception and emphatically introduced Venezuela’s economic development and judicial reform. He expressed admiration for the significant achievements China has made since its reform and opening-up, from which the Venezuelan side has learned many valuable experiences. Particularly, China has always regarded education as an important support for promoting its overall development. He believes that there is great potential for cooperation between SUIBE and universities in Venezuela.
As an international alumnus, AtilioVillasmil, the Consul General of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Shanghai, recalled his study experience in SUIBE and expressed his commitment to actively promoting cooperation between SUIBE and universities in Venezuela.
