On the afternoon of March 27th, a pivotal moment unfolded at the Changning Campus of the Shanghai University of International Business and Economics (SUIBE) as it hosted a strategic signing ceremony and the inaugural joint training session with the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE). Xu Tao, Party Secretary of SUFE; Liu Yuanchun, President of SUFE attended the ceremony alongside the leadership team and heads of various departments. Representing SUIBE were Qi Ming, Party Secretary; Wang Rongming, President; with their leadership team and department heads. The ceremony and the subsequent joint training session were adeptly presided over by Xu Yonglin, Vice President of SUIBE, and Zhang Yiguo, Deputy Party Secretary and Discipline Inspection Secretary of SUIBE.
In his welcoming speech, Qi Ming provided an overview of SUIBE, touching on its history, development trajectory, talent cultivation efforts, and the characteristics of its academic programs. He highlighted the strategic agreement as a milestone that propels the partnership between the two universities to new heights, and inaugurates a new chapter of the serving national strategies and addressing Shanghai’s development needs. Qi envisioned deepened cooperation between the two universities in areas such as joint party building initiatives, shared academic endeavors, collaborative research, cultivation of top-tier innovative talents, and the pooling of international educational resources.
In his address, Xu Tao delved into the rich history of SUFE spanning over a century, the university's profound cultural heritage, and the distinctive features in talent cultivation and academic development. He expressed the hope that this signing would serve as a catalyst for both institutions to closely align with their developmental realities, to further solidify, deepen, and strengthen inter-university cooperation. The aim is to achieve shared resources, mutual benefits, and to improve their capability in serving national strategies and Shanghai's development.
Liu Yuanchun shared insights into how SUFE has been optimizing its discipline and specialty structure in line with the urgent needs of national strategies and regional development. Focusing on the frontiers of global science and key technological areas, the university actively explores the cultivation of top-notch talents in the digital era. During the signing ceremony, Li Zengquan of SUFE and Jiang Xiuzhen of SUIBE formally inked the strategic cooperation agreement on behalf of their respective institutions, with Xu Tao, Liu Yuanchun, Qi Ming, and Wang Rongming witnessing the momentous occasion.
