On the morning of March 7th, Yan Shuang, Deputy Secretary-General of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, and Li Anfang, Director of the Shanghai Planning Office of Philosophy and Social Science, led a delegation to visit the Gubei Campus of SUIBE to inspect the development of the university's think tanks. Wang Rongming, President of SUIBE, received the delegation and presided over a symposium with it.
Wang Rongming welcomed Yan Shuang and the delegation on behalf of SUIBE. He said that SUIBE lays emphasis on strengthening the coordination between the education and talent chains and the industrial and innovation chains, with a focus on strengthening think tank development via its advantages in foreign trade and economic studies. Progress has been made in building and improving an integrated talent training mechanism that covers the full cycle from enrollment to employment, and in reform in talent training modes with forward-looking insights. In the new era, SUIBE will closely follow national strategies and meet the development needs of Shanghai, seize strategic opportunities including the cooperation with the Lin-gang Special Area, and forcefully promote the Dishui Lake Strategy, the strategy for SUIBE’s engagement in the development of the Lin-gang Special Area. He said SUIBE looks forward to receiving further guidance and assistance from leadership at higher levels.
Yan affirmed and congratulated SUIBE on the outstanding achievements it has made in recent years, especially the progress made in think tank development and the development momentum of the university. He said the university should focus on the following points in advancing its next round of high-quality development: firstly, in developing think tanks, SUIBE should continue to focus on international trade, international investment, international finance, international development cooperation, and international governance, start from professional perspectives, and give full play to its characteristics and advantages; secondly, SUIBE should focus on internationalization” and integrate the real cases of the international community into daily teaching to strengthen characteristic talent cultivation; thirdly, SUIBE should strengthen the construction of the School of International Organizations, make great efforts in discipline construction, integrate into the characteristics of the times and Chinese culture, create a mature curriculum system and stable teaching system, strengthen teaching material construction for early results.
