SUIBE Receives Visiting Delegation from Shanghai Municipal Education Commission Led by Deputy Director Sun

On the morning of January 29th, Sun Zhenrong, Deputy Director of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, Yang Jie, Director of the Higher Education Department, and Yang Xue, Deputy Director of the Higher Education Department, visited SUIBE to learn about the university’s application for degree programs. Wang Rongming, SUIBE President participated in a symposium with the delegation, which was chaired by Xu Yonglin, Vice President of SUIBE.



President Wang delivered a welcome speech. He pointed out that since its establishment in 1960, SUIBE has always been aiming at training high-level, international and application-oriented economic and trade talents, and leveraging scientific research to serve the country and Shanghai's economic and social development. SUIBE has provided an important source of talent for the development of China's economic and trade and the implementation of China’s opening-up strategies such as “re-entry into GATT”, “accession to the WTO”, “China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone” and the Belt and Road Initiative. He hopes that the university could receive guidance and support from the Municipal Education Commission in such aspects as further strengthening dominant disciplines and the layout of characteristic disciplines.


Sun Zhenrong pointed out in his speech that SUIBE has achieved great results in talent training and discipline construction in recent years. Based on the its strength in Internationalization, as well as Trade and Economic studies, SUIBE focuses on institutional opening-up, actively contributes its wisdom to the high-level opening-up of Shanghai and the country, and has embarked on a featured development path for financial and economics universities. He hopes that SUIBE would continue to promote high-level discipline construction and empower the cultivation of talents in economics and management disciplines by adding new doctoral programs in related disciplines. He encouraged the university to thoroughly sort out its disciplines and majors, strengthen the connotative reform of talent training, and promote the training of talents in both academic innovation and practical innovation.
