On the afternoon of October 20th, SUIBE convened a cadres meeting. Cao Yuanfeng, Executive Deputy Director of the Organization Department of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee attended and addressed the conference. Shen Wei, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Municipal Committee on Education and Health, chaired the conference. Wu Zhongwei, Director of the Office for Cadres in Technology, Publicity and Education of the Organization Department of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee announced that Qi Ming was appointed as the Chairman of the University Council of SUIBE, and Yin Yao, reaching the retirement age, would no longer serve as the Chairman of the University Council of SUIBE.
Cao Yuanfeng requested the new leadership to elevate its political stance, and uphold and strengthen the Party's overall leadership in university work. He said it must be ensured that education performs its fundamental mission of fostering virtue and the university should nurture a new generation of young people capable of shouldering the mission of national rejuvenation. He also requested the new leadership to persist in open education, and enhance the capabilities of the university in serving Chinese modernization.
