SUIBE Holds Inauguration Ceremony for Institute of Law and National Governance and Research Seminar on Chinese Modernization and National Governance

On October 29th, SUIBE held an inauguration ceremony for the Institute of Law and National Governance and research seminar on Chinese modernization and national governance. The ceremony was sponsoredby SUIBE, and hosted by the School of Law and the Institute of  Law and National Governance.

Professor Xu Yonglin, vice president of SUIBE, Liu Yanhao, vice president of Shanghai Research Association on Comprehensive Rule of Law and deputy director of Shanghai Judicial Bureau, Wang Guangxian, vice president of Shanghai Higher People's Court, and Professor Liang Meifen, member of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Basic Law Committee of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and the first dean of the Institute of Law and National Governance of SUIBE, attended the inaugurationceremony and delivered speeches. The dean of the School of Law of SUIBE, QiaoBaojie, presided over the ceremony.


 

Xu Yonglin pointed out in his speech that it was particularly necessary for the Institute to focus on the rule of law in China and the frontier issues of local rule of law, gather high-level scientific research forces, deepen theoretical research, interpret the strategies of rule of law in China, and promote innovation in the cultivation modes of high-quality and versatile national governance talents with both good character and competence.


 


Liang Meifen shared her life experience and understanding of the importance of China's efforts to enhance its international discourse power in her speech. As the first director of the Institute, she stated that she will take the ceremony and seminar as an opportunity to promote exchanges and cooperation between Shanghai and Hong Kong scholars, and make contributions to the rule of law and modern governance of China and the whole society.


 


A seminar on Chinese modernization and national governance was held after the inauguration ceremony, where experts delivered keynote reports and shared their research achievements and academic viewpoints.
