“Ode to the Silk Road---photography exhibition to commemorate the 10th Anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative” was held in SUIBE

On the afternoon of October 19th, “Ode to the Silk Road---photography exhibition to commemorate the10th Anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative”was held at Songjiang campus of SUIBE. The exhibition was jointly sponsored by Shanghai University of International Business and Economics and Shanghai International Culture Association, and jointly organized by Shanghai University of International Business and Economics Museum and Shanghai Photographers Association. The exhibition shows the unique natural and cultural landscape along the Silk Road and Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region through the photos by Mr. DingHe, Vice chairman of Shanghai Photographers Association and visiting researcher of Xinjiang Kizil Grottoes Research Institute.


Yin Yao, Chairman of SUIBE Council, Wang Rongming, SUIBE president, Qi Ming, Deputy Chairman of SUIBE Council and vice president of SUIBE, and leaders and experts from the museums of Shanghai International Studies University, Shanghai Lixin Accounting and Finance College and other sister universities attended the opening ceremony of the exhibition. SUIBE faculty and student representatives also attended the opening ceremony.

Wang Rongming said that as a university focusing on“foreign”, “economic” and “trade” studies, SUIBE shares a natural bond and similar cultural genes with this exhibition. He hopes that this exhibition could enhance the faculty, students and citizens' understanding of the Silk Road origin, the important role of trade in cultural exchanges, and the history of China's foreign trade, so as to contribute SUIBE's partto carrying on national heritage, enhancing historical awareness, and strengthening cultural confidence.


Ding He donated 20 carefully selected photographs to the SUIBE Museum. In return, Yin Yao presented Ding He with a letter of thanks for the donation and a letter of appointment.


Ding He said that this year marksthe 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative. As a photographer and a follower of the Silk Road culture, he has been recording culture with photography over the years. He hopes to take this exhibition as an opportunity to introduce the Silk Road culture into the campus, so that the faculty, students, and citizens can truly feel the profound Silk Road culture.


“Ode to the Silk Road---photography exhibition to commemorate the 10th Anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative” will be on display at Songjiang Campus of SUIBE from October 19, 2023 to May 31, 2024.
