SUIBE Signed Strategic Cooperation Agreementwith Legal Affairs Committee of Standing Committee of the Shanghai Municipal People's Congress onJointly Establishing the "Shanghai Foreign Economic and Trade Legal Research Institute"

On the afternoon of October 13th, the Legal Affairs Committee of the Standing Committee of the Shanghai Municipal People's Congress and SUIBE signed a strategic cooperation agreement and unveiled the Shanghai Foreign Economic and Trade Legal Research Institute at Gubei Campus of SUIBE. Yan Rui, Director of the Legal Affairs Committee of the Standing Committee of the Shanghai Municipal People's Congress, Cui Kai, Deputy Director of the Legal Affairs Committee, heads of the committee's relevant departments, Wang Rongming, SUIBE President, Qi Ming, vice chairman of the University Council and vice president of SUIBE, and faculty and student representatives attended the signing ceremony. At the ceremony, Yan Rui and Wang Rongming jointly inauguratedthe Shanghai Foreign Economic and Trade Law Research Institute and delivered speeches. Cui Kai and Qi Ming signed a strategic cooperation agreement on behalf of both parties under the witness of Yan Rui and Wang Rongming; Qi Ming presided over the ceremony.


Wang Rongming said in his speech that the inauguration of the “Shanghai Foreign Economic and Trade Law Research Institute” opened a new chapter for the cooperation between legislative bodies and universities. SUIBE will work hand in hand with the Legal Affairs Committee of the Standing Committee of the Shanghai Municipal People's Congress for joint contribution, shared benefits and win-win results, to make newer and greater contributions to promoting the innovation and practice of rule of law in Shanghai's foreign-related economic and trade affairs, and to guiding Pudong in leading district-level legislative work.



Yan Rui said in her speech that the jointly established institute holds an important position in promoting the construction of a training system for talents in global governance. She hopes that the institute can leverage the discipline and talent advantages of SUIBE to strengthen scientific, practical and forward-looking research on rule of law in foreign-related economic and trade affairs, build a bridge between scientific research and legislative work, and provide research and intellectual support for the construction of Shanghai's rule of law in foreign-related affairs.


Qi Ming introduced relevant situation of SUIBE. Cui Kai briefed attendees on Shanghai's local legislation and relevant strategic cooperation.

According to the agreement, the “Shanghai Foreign Economic and Trade Legal Research Institute” will promote the interaction between legislative bodies and colleges and universities, innovatively promote legislative work, and carry out in-depth and all-round cooperation on the oretical research, cadre training, think tank development, talent training, etc to jointly promote the innovation and practice of Shanghai’s rule of law in foreign-related economic and trade affairs.
