On the afternoon of August 15th, Xie Dong, Vice Mayor of Shanghai, led a delegation to visit SUIBE for field reserch. Wang Ping, deputy secretary-general of the Shanghai municipal people's government, Zhou Yaming, director of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, Yin Yao, secretary of the CPC SUIBE Committee, SUIBE president Wang Rongming, and other members of the SUIBE leadership participated in the research.
During her visit to the student residential community, Xie Dong and her delegation toured Chuang Xiang Jia and were briefed on the one-stop comprehensive management model being implemented across student dorms and facilities. Later, they visited a big data+ innovation lab and a digital economy and trade lab of the university, where they learned about how the labs' information and development.
At a seminar, Xie Dong listened to a work report of SUIBE and exchanged views with other participants. She pointed out that colleges and universities administered at the municipal level should have distinctive characteristics, and build on their strength to make new and greater contributions to the development of Shanghai in their respective advantageous fields. She called on SUIBE to focus on its main business, further strengthen its advantages in the studies of international business and economics, and support Shanghai in building itself into an international economy, finance, trade, shipping and scientific and technological innovation center with the strength and features of SUIBE. She encouraged the university to continue nurturing opportunities in times of crisis, and further improve the work of discipline construction and talent cultivation. She also requested SUIBE to, in the face of development bottlenecks, keep strategic composure, make sustained efforts, and effectively tap potential to improve efficiency.
On behalf of SUIBE, Yin Yao expressed gratitude to the Shanghai Municipal People's Government and the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission for their long-term care and assistance to SUIBE, and introduced the university's implementation of theme education. Wang Rongming briefly reviewed the development of the university, highlighting its synergy with China's efforts to transform into a trader of quality. He expounded on the university’s talent training objectives and characteristics, as well as discipline construction, and highlighted the positive achievements in think tank platform construction and serving the Party's national governance.
