High-end Forum of Translation and International Communication Talent Training in Digital Era and Award Ceremony for 3rd National Contest of Business Translation successfully held in SUIBE

On July 6th, the High-end Forum for Translation and International Communication Talent Training in Digital Era, also the Award Ceremony for 3rd National Contest of Business Translation was successfully held in Conference Room 526, Information Building, Songjiang campus of SUIBE. Yin Yao, chairman of the University Council of SUIBE, Huang Youyi, executive vice president of the Translators Association of China and director of the Expert Committee of the National Steering Committee for Postgraduate Education of Translation Degrees, and Zha Mingjian, president of the Shanghai Foreign Language Society and vice president of Shanghai International Studies University, attended and addressed the ceremony.

On behalf of SUIBE, Yin Yao delivered a speech at the ceremony. He welcomed all the experts and scholars attending the event, congratulated the winners, and expressed his gratitude to the sister universities and enterprises that supported the development of foreign language disciplines. He said, “Digital Intelligence Era” and “Personnel Training for Translation and International Communication” were two key phrases of this forum. He hoped that the School of Languages of SUIBE should take this forum as an opportunity to further explore new pathways to the integration of digital technology and humanities and the improved quality of technology-enabled cultivation of translation talents, thus continuously enhancing SUIBE’s capacity in international communication.


 

Huang Youyi and Zha Mingjian said that joint efforts from universities and the language service companies are needed to cultivate translation and international communication talents who can meet the requirements of national strategies and the needs of the times. In the era when information technology develops rapidly, this high-end forum provides good insights on how to make good use of artificial intelligence and digital technology to cultivate talents for translation and foreign communication in the era of digitalization.




 

Guo Yi, deputy dean of the School of Languages, on behalf of the organizing committee, delivered the Report on the Assessment and Review of the 3rd National Business Translation Competition. Liu Genchun, chairman of the Party committee of the School of Languages, announced the list of winners.


 

High-end Forum for Translation and International Communication Talent Training in Digital Era” was held after the award ceremony, where six experts addressed keynote reports respectively.
