SUIBE, SIPA Sign Strategic Cooperation Agreement,Co-establish Shanghai Joint Intellectual Property Research Institute

On the afternoon of March 22nd, the signing ceremony of a strategic cooperation agreement between SUIBE and the Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration (SIPA), also the inauguration ceremony of the Shanghai JointIntellectual Property Research Institute was held at the Gubei Campus of SUIBE. This marked that the two sides will work together to explore new paths and models of cooperation, and rely on the jointly established research institute to carry out in-depth and all-round cooperation on aspects such as think tank development, theoretical research, mechanism improvement, practical training, and talent training, so as to make new contributions to build Shanghai into a highland of international intellectual property protection and a center of international intellectual property.







Rui Wenbiao, Director of the SIPA, Wei Lan, Deputy Director of the SIPA, heads of relevant departments, Yin Yao, Chairman of the University Council of SUIBE, Wang Rongming, SUIBE president, and Wu Yi, Vice Chairman of the University Council of SUIBE attended the ceremony. Rui Wenbiao and Wang Rongming jointly inaugurated the Shanghai Joint Intellectual Property Research Institute and delivered speeches respectively. Wei Lan and Wu Yi signed a strategic cooperation agreement on behalf of the two parties. Yin Yao presided over the ceremony and delivered a speech.

With regard to strengthening the development of the joint research institute, Rui Wenbiao urged the two sides to raise their stance and deeply integrate into the big picture of building Shanghai intoa strong intellectual property city, pool resources and work together to build a new type of think tank for intellectual property development, strive for more high-quality achievements and provide reliable talent and intellectual guarantee for higher-quality development of Shanghai’s intellectual property.




Yin Yao said in his speech that SUIBE will take the establishment of the Shanghai Joint Intellectual Property Research Institute as an opportunity to implement the outline of building Shanghai into a strong intellectual property city and the 14th Five-Year Plan, and provide strong support and guarantee for Shanghai’s strategic tasks such as building Shanghai into a highland of international intellectual property protection and a center of international intellectual property, implementing higher level of opening up and accelerating the construction of “five centers”, namely the centers of international economy, finance, trade, shipping, and science and technology innovation.




Wang Rongming said in his speech that it is the mission of SUIBE to transform innovation into productivity, promote high-quality development with innovation, and contribute to building Shanghai into a hub of intellectual property. He hoped that by integrating the competitive resources inside and outside the university, SUIBE can give full play to its special advantages in the law discipline and intellectual property field, deepen the operating mechanism of “openness, mobility, union and competition”, make the Shanghai Joint Intellectual Property Research Institute bigger and stronger and serve the high-quality development of Shanghai’s intellectual property at a high level.
