Art Exhibition themed “Chinese Style in Mid -19th Century European Copperplate Prints” Kicks off

On the afternoon of March 17th, the SUIBE Museum held the inauguration ceremony of its first exhibition at the Songjiang Campus, displaying 53 precious copperplate prints under the theme of “Chinese Style in Mid-19th Century European Copperplate Prints”. Wang Rongming, SUIBE president, Zhu Hu, the donor and professor of East China Normal University, Shen Zhonghai, copperplate master, and representatives of teachers and students attended the ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by Ding Ye, curator of the SUIBE Museum.

In his speech, Wang Rongming expressed his gratitude to the donors of the first batch of collections of the SUIBE Museum, and emphasized that the construction of university museums couldn’t have been achieved without the support from the society, and that the collections are the core of the museum. He hopes that in the future, the SUIBE Museum could receive more donated collections that are in line with the university’s historical heritage and cultural characteristics, hold more high-quality exhibitions, and play a bigger role in cultural education.

At the ceremony, Wang Rongming presented Zhu Hu with a copperplate print replica produced by copperplate print master and artist Shen Zhonghai.
