On the morning of March 3rd, Xie Yue, counselor and director of the Recruitment and Training Office of the Department of Personnel of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), visited SUIBE’s Songjiang Campus for research. SUIBE president Wang Rongming met with Xie Yue and his delegation and had an in-depth exchange of views on training all-round diplomatic talents for China’s future development and on further cooperation between SUIBE and the MFA. Qi Ming, SUIBE vice president and Vice Chairman of the University Council joined the meeting.
Wang Rongming pointed out that under a new pattern of higher-level opening up in the new era, SUIBE focuses on national strategies and regional development needs, taking Applied Economics as the leading discipline to cultivate globally oriented talents of economic governance who have an international vision ,love the country, boasts all-round moral, intellectual, physical and aesthetic grounding with a hard-working spirit, as well as solid basic theoretical knowledge, strong innovative and practical capability, and outstanding cross-cultural communication skills.
Cultivating foreign trade business officials and translation officials, global business talents, and global economic and trade governance talents, SUIBE has continuously upgraded its talent training, and contributed it strength to making China strong trading nation. The university will keep working to ensure talent cultivation and pipeline in a bid to better serve national strategies and foster diplomatic talents that meet the country’s demands.
Xie Yue gave full recognition to SUIBE’s university-running features and achievements in talent training, and introduced in detail the new changes in diplomatic work and the recruitment policy of the MFA, as well as the new requirements for diplomatic and foreign affairs talents in political commitment, knowledge structure, and comprehensive ability, based on the new features of the current international situation faced by China. She hopes that SUIBE would provide more guidance and recommendation for students, and she also welcomes more outstanding graduates of SUIBE to apply for the MFA and contribute to China’s diplomacy.
