On the afternoon of March 2nd, SUIBE held the first Shanghai universities think tank seminar of 2023 and the conference on stabilizing foreign investment and trade. The seminar was hosted by Yang Weiren, secondary inspector from the Council of Shanghai Municipal Education and Health.
SUIBE president Wang Rongming delivered a welcome speech. He said that as the only well-known university in the Yangtze River Delta that has been deeply engaged in the study of international trade and economics for a long time, SUIBE has always been bearing in mind the country’s most fundamental interests and striving to be an important contributor to Shanghai, and has identified think tank construction as one of its development strategies, adding that the university has contributed its wisdom in serving national strategies and Shanghai’s economic and social development. It has always been a leading university in Shanghai in terms of decision-making consultation. Besides, he introduced SUIBE’s exploration in recent years in the evaluation of think tank achievements, think tank system construction, think tank team development, and models of running think tanks. He hoped that relevant departments at all levels would provide stronger support to the development of the think tanks of Shanghai’s colleges and universities.
Xia Wei, Vice President of SUIBE’s Institute for International Economic and Trade Innovation and Governance, gave a detailed introduction to the development of the university’s think tanks, analyzed the existing difficulties and problems, and proposed a development path based on SUIBE’s situation.
Yang Weiren made a concluding speech. He said that think tanks in colleges and universities are an important force in building a new type of think tanks with Chinese characteristics, hoping that all colleges and universities would act more actively, to serve the governance of the country with think tank services, contribute more wisdom to advancing the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation on all fronts through a Chinese path to modernization, and make Shanghai a pioneer in building a modern socialist country in all respects.
