On December 8th, Wei Lan, deputy director of Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration (SIPA), Xu Shang, director of the Division of Strategy Planning of SIPA, and Wen Qianqian from the Division of Strategy Planning visited SUIBE’s Gubei Campus and joined a seminar.
The two sides exchanged and discussed issues of common concern such as jointly establishing an intellectual property research institute, as well as global governance of intellectual property and overseas intellectual property rights protection. Wang Rongming, SUIBE president, and Wu Yi, Vice Chairman of the University Council of SUIBE attended the seminar.
On behalf of SUIBE, Wang Rongming welcomed and thanked the leaders of the SIPA for their visit and introduced the development of the university. He said that as a comprehensive financial and economic university featuring foreign trade, SUIBE should take up the essential responsibility of building China into a powerful trading country, and make more contributions to local economic and social development. Besides, the university will help promote the high-quality development of Shanghai’s intellectual property, build Shanghai into a high land of international intellectual property protection and a center of international intellectual property, and provide support and guarantee for Shanghai’s strategic tasks such as implementing higher level of opening up and accelerating the construction of “five centers,” namely the centers of international economy, finance, trade, shipping, and science and technology innovation.
Wei Lan expressed his gratitude to SUIBE for the thoughtful reception and appreciated the rich cultural heritage and distinctive features of the university. He hoped that by infusing the characteristic advantages of SUIBE, the two sides could step up further pragmatic cooperation.
