SUIBE Held Think Tank Seminar on Talent Cultivation of International and regional studies

On November 22nd, under the guidance of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Shanghai Municipal Education and Health Committee and Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, a think tank seminar on talent cultivation of International and regional studies led by the Institute of International Economic and Trade Innovation and Governance of SUIBE was held at Gubei Campus. The seminar was attended by Yang Weiren, deputy counsel of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Education and Health Committee and Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, and Cheng Lingzhi, researcher of the Office of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Education and Health Committee.



 

Wu Yi, vice chairman of the University Council of SUIBE attended the seminar and delivered a welcome speech. He said that the 20th CPC National Congress raised new requirement for area studies and relevant talent cultivation, and it is a practical action to implement the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress by discussing the discipline construction and development of international and regional studies from a multidisciplinary perspective and exploring the models of talent cultivation of international and regional studies and global governance. He also introduced SUIBE’s latest development and achievements in the Studies based on its strength in foreign languages and relying on three Area Studies centers under the Ministry of Education, including China Institute for WTO Studies and the Central and Eastern European Research Center.



During the seminar, think tank experts carried out in-depth discussion on the theme of talent cultivation of area studies around discipline construction, training models, and curriculum provision. Yang Weiren made a concluding speech at the end of the seminar.
