On November 13th, the joint conference (the annual French conference) of the French Branch Committee of the National Foreign Languages Teaching Advisory Board under the Ministry of Education and ACPF (China) was held in SUIBE. The conference was attended by around 160 experts and scholars from nearly 100 universities and research institutions across China, including Xu Yonglin, vice president of SUIBE, Cao Deming, chairman of the French Branch Committee and president of ACPE, and the leadership of the School of Languages of SUIBE.
Xu Yonglin attended the opening ceremony of the conference and delivered a speech. He briefly introduced the history, features, schools and departments, and achievements of SUIBE, focusing on the university’s active role in national strategies and regional economic and trade development. In his report, Cao Deming comprehensively summarized the progress made by the French Branch Committee and the ACPE in the past two years, and notified the achievements in advancing key projects, strengthening professional training, conducting extensive research, and organizing professional tests. Wen Jianping, dean of the Language School, and Meng Xianying, director of the French Department of Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press, also delivered speeches at the opening ceremony.
During the conference, the final of the 14th “FLTRP Cup” National College French Speech Contest was held in SUIBE, and the contestants showed their solid knowledge and good expression capabilities through two stages of competition: a prepared speech session themed on China’s 100-year struggle to realize the Chinese Dream and an impromptu speech session.
