The asset valuation program, approved to be set up in 2006, started undergraduate enrollment in 2007 and was eligible to enroll postgraduates in 2021. It has formed a distinctive talent cultivation model that integrates curriculum, simulation training, academic research, and evaluation practice through its long-term and in-depth cooperation with major evaluation institutions in Shanghai.

Academic research

The Department encourages faculty members to actively conduct academic research to promote teaching levels and further stimulate and cultivate students’ scientific research abilities. In the past three years, our teachers have succeeded in applying for 5 national and provincial projects, and the results of some projects have been adopted by the government’s decision-making internal reference. In the past five years, our faculty members have published over 20 high-quality papers in authoritative and core journals at home and abroad, such as Nankai Business Review, Accounting Research, Chinese Journal of Management Science, and International Journal of Modern Physics, and 9 papers in Appraisal Journal of China, a leading domestic journal in asset appraisal.

Our faculty members actively participate in international and domestic academic conferences and exchanges. In the past three years, 6 academic papers of our faculty members won the Outstanding Paper Award of the China National Forum on Appraisal Education in different years. Under the guidance of our faculty members, our undergraduate students majoring in asset appraisal participating actively in academic research have published five academic papers in the Appraisal Journal of China and other journals in the past three years.

Faculty

The Department is home to a highly-qualified team of 8 full-time faculty members, 100% of whom have senior professional titles and doctoral degrees, and 83% have overseas study experience. The Department encourages and supports teachers to participate in internship base cooperation projects and obtain qualifications as asset appraisers. Currently, there are 6 full-time faculty members with practical experience and 4 with dual professional titles (3 have qualified as asset appraisers). The Department actively engages senior executives of asset appraisal companies and senior appraisers as internship mentors, visiting professors, and off-campus tutors to form an effective complement to or extension of curriculum content through lectures and internship guidance. We have engaged 7 experts from asset appraising firms as visiting professors and 61 industry elites as off-campus tutors. A complimentary teaching team of “full-time teachers + teachers with industry background + off-campus tutors” has been formed to teach core courses.
