Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Change Management

The Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Change Management at SUIBE, established in December 2017, is Chinas first physical research institution studying artificial intelligence from an interdisciplinary perspective. It is committed to the exploration of problems in economic management such as the social development effect, industrial evolution effect, and organizational change effect caused by artificial intelligence. It provides cases/data/models/empirical research/think tanks and other systems to support artificial intelligence strategies in Shanghai and nationwide through such ways as state trend tracking, simulation environment construction, analytical model deduction, and big data-driven modeling. Its research directions are: advanced technology and social governance innovation; theory and practice of organizational digital transformation; research on open-source technology and business; digital finance and trade; theoretical innovation and practice of new business.

Fang Binxing, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) serves as honorary dean of the institute, the CAE academician Yang Shanlin as director of the academic committee (the second director, and Yang Xueshan, former Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, was the first director), and Professor Qi Jiayin, national-level talent and an expert entitled to the special allowance of the State Council, serves as dean of the institute. Since its establishment, the institute has undertaken more than ten key projects such as national key R&D projects, major projects of the National Social Science Fund, key projects of the National Natural Science Fund/major research planning programs/special projects on the COVID-19, Sino-German Science Center projects, and joint education projects by universities in China-Central and Eastern European countries. It has succeeded in applying for over 20 patents for invention, and published A-level academic journal papers in the fields of management and computer science. More than 20 policy proposals have been adopted with positive comments by national leaders of China.

There are two scientific research platforms at provincial and ministerial levels: Key Laboratory of Data Science and Management Decision Making under Shanghai Key Research Base of Humanities and Social Sciences, and Shanghai Open-source and Digital Belt and Road Collaborative Innovation Center.
