Wang Rongming, SUIBE President & Vice Chairman of SUIBE Council

Wang Rongming, male, Han nationality, a native of Anqing in Anhui Province, professor, and doctoral supervisor, was born in July 1965. He was a member of the Seventh and is serving as a member of the Eighth Academic Discipline Review Group under the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council. In addition, he is Vice Chairman of the Steering Committee of Statistics Programs in Higher Education Institutions under the Ministry of Education, and Vice Chairman of the Chinese Association of Applied Statistics.

 

In 1986, he graduated and obtained his bachelor’s degree from the Department of Mathematics of Anhui Normal University (ANU). In 1991, he graduated as a master’s candidate from the department mentioned above and succeeded in applying for his master’s degree in science from Beijing Normal University. In 1997, he graduated and obtained his doctoral degree from the Department of Mathematical Statistics of East China Normal University (ECNU). From 1986, he was a faculty member of the Department of Mathematics at ANU. From 1997, he served in succession as a lecturer, associate professor, and professor in the Department of Statistics at ECNU. In 2002, he was the chairman of the Department of Statistics at ECNU. In 2007, he became the dean of the School of Finance and Statistics at ECNU. In Dec. 2014, he served as a member of the standing committee of the Party Committee and vice president of ECNU.

He is mainly engaged in teaching and research in statistics and insurance, and his research fields cover insurance actuarial, risk management, and mathematical finance. He has been selected for the Program for New Century Excellent Talent of the Ministry of Education, the “Dawn” Program of Shanghai City, and the Program of Shanghai Outstanding Academic Leaders.

He has been leading many top research projects, including “111 Project” (the Program of Introducing Talent for Disciplinary Innovation to Universities, major and key projects of the National Social Science Fund of China, and several projects from the National Natural Science Foundation of China and NSSF. He has published more than 50 academic papers in English and Chinese, including over 30 articles listed by SCI and SSCI.
