On September 24, SUIBE held a meetingof cadre teachers on the guiding principles for the 2022 fall semester. Themed with“implementing the spirit of the 12th Communist Party of China (CPC) Shanghai Congress, optimizingtalent cultivation models, fosteringadown-to-earth entrepreneurial spirit, and welcoming the 20th CPC National Congress with concrete actions,” the forum aimedto make an in-depth analysis of the opportunities and challenges that SUIBE would face as it enters its next phase of development, which includes the introduction of doctoral degree programs, building a high-level regional university, and advancingthe cooperation between the Ministry of Education and the Shanghai municipality in reinforcingthe higher education administration system. At the meeting, chairman of the University Council of SUIBE， Yin Yao delivered a mobilizing speech and SUIBE president Wang Rongming made a summary speech.
Yin Yao, on behalf of SUIBE, extended his gratitude to the faculty members who had been working on orientation, and explained the guiding principles of aconference of Party and administrationcadres in Shanghai universities. He requested the participants in the meeting, according to itscontext and significance, to take a clear political stand, focus onmain goals, not cross the line and maintainintegrity. He encouraged participants toenhance Party building, focus on key points, strengthen features, and create highlights. He also demanded them to promote reform by emancipating the mind, strengthen team development, make concertedefforts.
Wang Rongming made a summary speech with the theme of “staying focused on key initiatives for development and preparing for a new journey”. He reviewed the university’s administrative work in the first half of this year and summarized this meeting. Based on the guiding principles of theconference of Party and administrationcadres in Shanghai universities and the reality of SUIBE, he expounded on the current development of SUIBE from talent cultivation, discipline construction, personnel management to capital construction, and madeplans for the work of the second half of this year and a period of time to come.
XuYonglin and Wu Yi made keynote reportson the topics of “adhering to the mission of fostering virtue through education and cultivating first-class undergraduate talents” and “achieving new progress in the development of school undertakings through a clear judgement of situation and disparity as well as hard work”.
The meeting provided an in-depth analysis of the current situation and tasks facing the work of SUIBE, and studied and planned specific ideas, objectives and tasks and major initiatives in the second half of the year and the near future, heralding a new wave of reform and innovative development of SUIBE.
