On September 16, SUIBE held the inauguration ceremony of the School of International Chinese Language Education and High-end Forum on International Chinese Language Education.
President Wang Rongming attended the ceremony and delivered a speech. President Wang pointed out that the university’s decision to establish the School of International Chinese Language Education is an important initiative to promote specialty construction, optimize the structure of disciplines and majors, and adjust the layout of faculties and departments. It is also a major initiative thatactively responds to the national strategy that requires universities tofocus on cultivating professional talents that helpinternational cultural exchanges, strengthen international communication and share Chinesestories with the international community. Wang hoped that the school would seize the historicalopportunity to actively explore new concepts and mechanisms of international Chinese education, create characteristics and make achievements in the field of international Chinese education in Shanghai and even in China at large.
At the ceremony, the School of International Chinese Language Education released its logo and official name and presented its inaugurating gift with its logo to the representatives of facultyand students. Eight famous professors from Shanghai were appointed as career mentors for graduate students. Deputy Dean Wang Yanyan, who presided over the ceremony, made a speech.
After the ceremony, the High-end Forum on International Chinese Language Education was held. Attendingexperts tothe forum gave speeches on the theme of international Chinese language education.
