SUIBE Inaugurates Institute of International Economic and Trade Innovation and Governance


On June 29, the inaugural meeting of an institute of international economic and trade innovation and governance of SUIBE was held both online and offline.




Qian Keming, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Commerce of China, and Chen Qun, vice mayor of Shanghai, delivered speeches via video link. They pointed out that the global economic governance system is currently facing unprecedented challenges, and a series of international economic and trade issues need to be studied and addressed. Establishing the institute, SUIBE should fully leverage its advantages and characteristics, broaden its horizon in building new-type think tanks, focus on major theoretical and practical issues, play an active role in theoretical innovation and decision-making consultation, and take this opportunity to pool resources from all sides, strengthen exploration and innovation, focus on a major direction, and strive to achieve a higher level of characteristic development.






President Wang Rongming delivered a welcome speech. He said that the establishment of the institute will bring new ideas, new actions and new achievements to SUIBE in further carrying out think tank research, building think tank platforms, gathering think tank resources and making think tank achievements. SUIBE will deliver satisfactory performance in serving China's opening-up and the in-depth development of Shanghai's reform and opening-up.




Wang Ping, director of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, Yin Yao, chairman of the University Council, Wang Rongming, president of the new institute, and Qi Ming, vice chairman of the University Council and vice president of SUIBE jointly inaugurated the institute.



Zhou Hanmin, vice chairman of the Central Committee of the China National Democratic Construction Association, vice chairman of the Shanghai CPPCC (the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference) and chairman of the Shanghai Committee of the China National Democratic Construction Association, delivered a keynote report. He made an important interpretation of Pudong district’s development in the past 30 some years from the following five aspects: legislation, entrepreneurship, new era, new historical stage and the free trade zone.
