SUIBE held a symposium on building first-class undergraduate majors on Dec.30. SUIBEvice president XuYonglin attended the symposium and delivered a speech.

Participating schools held in-depth discussion on their further plans and measures on building first-class undergraduate majors based on their own characteristics.
Xu raised three requirements for the building of first-class undergraduate majors.He asked schools to strengthen their planning, perceive the historical bearingof discipline construction in the new era,andmake advanced deployment. He also required schools tofocus ondisciplineconstruction, servethe strategic development of China and Shanghai, and cultivatehigh-quality compound talents of economy and trade for the society. Lastly, he requested schoolsto closely follow discipline construction and take improving the quality of talent cultivationas anultimate goal.
