Drama "Wang Yaotian" staged to commemorate 20th anniversary of China's accession to WTO

On the evening of Nov. 11, the drama Wang Yaotian was premiered in the 507 Lecture Hall of the Graphic Information Building of the SUIBE Songjiang Campus. Zhou Hanmin, vice chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Shanghai Committee and a distinguished alumnus of SUIBE, family members of Professor Wang Yaotian, Yin Yao, chairman of the University Council of SUIBE, and Qi Ming, vice chairman of the University Council of SUIBE and vice president of the university, watched the performance.

The drama Wang Yaotian vividly portrays the story of Professor Wang Yaotian who, with his extraordinary courage, judgment and persistence, devoted his entire life to the restoration of China’s position in the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade and the country’s accession to the WTO. It introduces how the professor had stepped forward with courage and responsibility to make suggestions to the CPC Central Committee and the State Council on China’s strategies of its accession to the WTO and on how the country should carry out negotiations in key sectors.

Zhou Hanmindelivered a speech, in which he said that the dramareflected Wang’s great thoughts, resolution and love for the country. He emphasized that Professor Wang Yaotian'ssense of patriotism and scholarly style are a tradition and glory of his alma mater, hoping that the teachers and students of SUIBE will always be able to march forward in the future along the path blazed by masters.
