A 7-member delegation of SUIBE faculty and students participated in the study abroad program of innovation and entrepreneurship hosted by the University of Haifa (UH), Israel, from 31 July to 10 August. The two-week program aims to promote innovative and entrepreneurial culture and research between the two countries, foster the spirit and capability of innovation and entrepreneurship on the part of students, and train talents with versatile skills. Apart from the six students from SUIBE, 30 students from Zhejiang University, East China Normal University, and the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China also participated in the program.
During the academic tour, prominent Israeli professors such as Professor Dan Schueftan, Director of the National Security Studies Center at UH, Professor OfiraAyalon, Director of the Natural Resources and Environmental Research Center at UH, and Professor Gad Barzilai, Dean of the Faculty of Law at UH, shared their views with the students on a variety of issues ranging from innovation and entrepreneurship, alternative energy development, agricultural technology and global energy, technological innovation, and venture capital. At the same time, students also visited Carmel Ltd., a unique incubator of innovation and entrepreneurship at UH, Powerball,a new entrepreneurial shared workspace offering value-added services, and MindCET, an incubator for leadership and innovation in educational technology, which helped to expose students to the integration between innovation and entrepreneurship education in Israeli institutes of higher education and the society at large. Mr. EfratKaduri, Chairman of the Board at Pluristem Therapeutics Inc.,and Mr. Dan D. Aridor, Chairman of the Board at AEBI, met with students to do specific case studies and provide expert advice on their innovative and entrepreneurial projects. At the end of program, the presentation of the innovative project by SUIBE students won high praise from faculty and students at UH.
The two-week academic tour helped to expand students’ international vision, increase their understanding of the internationalization of innovation and entrepreneurship, stimulate their innovative and entrepreneurial thinking, and foster their spirit and strength of innovation and entrepreneurship.
