Commissioned by the Academy for International Business Officials (AIBO), Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM), Shanghai Strategic Research Institute of International Trade Centre, SUIBE offered a training program for 24 Bengali government officials preparing them to participate in China-Bangladesh Free Trade Agreement negotiations.
Prof. Yao Weiqun, Executive Director of the Institute extended on behalf of SUIBE and the Institute warm welcome to the participants before sharing his views about the Joint Research Report on China-ROK Free Trade Agreement and Joint Research Report on China-Switzerland Free Trade Agreement. Associate Prof. CheChunli gave a presentation on how to increase businesses’ utilization rate of free trade agreements. Yu Weili, Deputy Director of the Institute moderated the training session.
Designed to train FTA negotiatorsfor the Bengali government, the program is a result of the Memorandum of Understanding on Launching Joint Feasibility Study for Establishing a Free Trade Agreement between China and Bangladesh signed during President Xi Jinping’s visit to Bangladesh in October 2016. As requested by AIBO, the program offered high-level training sessions on targeted, professional, and technical topics, laying a good foundation for launching the joint feasibility study.
AIBO also commissioned the Institute to train 14 officials from Egypt, Tunis, Jordan and Lebanon attending the Training Session for the Promotion of Trade and Investment in Arab States. Prof. Yao Weiqun and Prof. Shi Longxiang respectively gave presentations on Pilot Free Trade Zone: China’s New Practice to Promote Trade and Investment Liberalization and taking the Belt and Road Initiative as a way to deepen economic and trade cooperation between China and Arabic countries, and had in-depth exchanges with the participants.
