Research Center for Japanese Economy Hosts International Workshop on Economic and Trade Cooperation

On May 20 th , Research Center for Japanese Economy, SUIBE, Research Center for East Asian Economies, SUIBE, Shanghai Association for Japanese Studies, Shanghai Association for World Economy, and National Association for Japanese Economy jointly held an international workshop on the economic integration of and free trade zones in East Asia. It was attended by approximately 50 scholars and experts from Sojitz Research Institute, Japan, Japan Bank for International Cooperation, Japan Economics Newspaper , Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation,MOFCOM,Shanghai Institute for International Studies, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, Shanghai WTO Affairs Consultation Center, Shanghai Japan Studies and Communication, Shanghai Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Shanghai Research Center for Business Development, Fudan University, Shanghai University, and Shanghai University of International Studies. Chen Zilei, Vice President of Shanghai Association for Japanese Studies and Director of Research Center for Japanese Economy chaired the meeting.

Extensive and in-depth discussions were held on topics such as business cooperation at the backdrop of the Belt and Road Initiative, establishing free trade zone in Asia Pacific and Shanghai Free Trade Zone.
