SUIBE delegation led by Vice President Chen Jie visited theUniversity of Ljubljana (UL) from May 14 to 16. During the visit,they attended the events of the Month of Chinese Culture, visitedthe Faculty of Economics of UL, and held talks with the Chinesefaculty teaching at the Confucius Institute (CI). The Chinesedirector of the CI made a briefing on the work at CI. VP Chen askedabout the life and work of the faculty and expressed the wish thatthey would cherish the opportunity of being an ambassador ofChina-Slovenia friendship and overcome the difficulties inpromoting the Chinese language and culture.
On the morning of the 16th, the delegation visited theadministrative centre of LU. Prof. Ivan Svetni, Rector of LU andBoard Chairman of the CI, Prof. Tanja Mihalič, Vice Rector of LU,Ms. Mihaela Bauman Podojsteršek, Secretary General of LU, Prof.Branka Kalenić Ramšak, Dean of the Faculty of Arts of LU, Prof.Metka Tekavčič, Dean of the Faculty of Economics of LU, Ms.Danijela Volič, Slovenian Director of the CI, Prof. Mitja Saje,Sinologist and Board Member of the CI, and persons in charge ofrelevant departments were at the meeting with SUIBE delegation. Thetwo sides respectively gave an introduction about theiruniversities in terms of teaching philosophy, strengths, and inparticular their practice in the internationalization of education.They recognized the achievements of the CI and reached consensus onfaculty exchanges and research collaboration.
On the afternoon of the 16th, the delegation attended the issuingceremony of Prof. Mitja Saje’s new book History of China, the firstbook in Slovenia and even in central and eastern Europe thatintroduces the Chinese history in an all-round and systematicalway. Rector Svetinik addressed the ceremony and was presentthroughout the ceremony. Mr. Liu Haibo, famous Erhu playerperformed several pieces of Chinese music.
During the visit, Wang Qun, Curator of SUIBE library visited theNational Library of Slovenia in the company of the Chinese Directorof the CI, and exchanged ideas with the person in charge ofinternational relations at the library on the construction,operation and management of libraries.
