SUIBE President Sun Haiming Leads Delegation to Israel

At the invitation of Consulate General of Israel in Shanghai andGalilee International Management Institute, President Sun Haimingrecently led a SUIBE delegation to Israel, visiting Tel AvivUniversity, Tel Aviv Smart City, University of Haifa, and GalileeInternational Management Institute. The delegation also includedDean of School of Business Huang Jianzhong, Director ofInternational Exchange Office Xu Dongfeng, Dean of School ofInternational Studies Qiu Guixi, and Dean of School of ContinuingEducation Yang Xiaoyan.

 

During his visit to Israel, President Sun met with Mr. Udi Aharoni,CEO and Academic Director at the Leon Recanti Graduate School ofBusiness Administration, Tel Aviv University; Ms. Naomi Shafrir,Manager of Global Customer Relationship at the School ofManagement, Tel Aviv University; Ms. Nata Gruber, Director ofEntrepreneurship Research Center, Tel Aviv Mayor’s Office; Dr.Joseph Shevel, President of the Galilee International ManagementInstitute; Ms. Xie Yani, director of cooperation with China at theGalilee International Management Institute; Professor DavidFaraggi, Rector of University of Haifa; and Professor UrielReichman, President of the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya.

 

While in Tel Aviv University, President Sun spoke highly of Israeliagricultural technology in drip irrigation and the amazingachievements in scientific innovation, and discussed possible waysof cooperation in MBA and high-end training programs between thetwo universities. When President Sun visited Tel Aviv Smart Cityand Enterprise Incubator Center, Ms. Nata Gruber, Director ofEntrepreneurship Research Center, Tel Aviv Mayor’s Office, briefedthe Chinese guests on the relevant measures and preferentialpolicies of the Tel Aviv city government to attract startups andventure capitals. During his visit to the University of Haifa,learning that Haifa was twinned with Shanghai in 1993 and that theuniversity had established partnership with several universities inChina and launched summer programs in Asian countries, PresidentSun expressed the intent to launch teacher and student exchangeprograms between the two universities. When Dr. Joseph Shevel,President of the Galilee International Management Institute, metwith President Sun, Dr. Shevel expressed his wish that SUIBEstudents could participate in its summer program for Chinesestudents in scientific innovation and that the two universitiescould cooperate further in this area. President Sun’s last stop inIsrael was the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya (IDC Herzliya), aprivate university established only some 20 years ago, with astudent enrolment of over 6,500, among which 25% are internationalstudents and one third of the students are former officers andsoldiers of the Israel Defense Forces. Ranked first of 66 Israeliacademic institutions in terms of student satisfaction for fourconsecutive years, IDC Herzliya has established student exchangeprograms with many prestigious universities in the world. Itslanguage of instruction is mainly English. The Dean of School ofBusiness at IDC Herzliya expressed the wish to launch studentexchange programs with SUIBE.
