Vice President Nie Qing attended the 2016 APAIE (Asia-PacificAssociation for International Education) Annual Conference andExhibition held in Melbourne, Australia. It was the first time thatSUIBE participated in the event.
There were approximately 1600 registered attendants including about100 university presidents and 160 vice presidents. The Presidents’Round Table Meeting, highlight of the event held in the Universityof Melbourne was well attended by over 60 presidents fromuniversities worldwide. SUIBE was the only university from Shanghaibeing invited to the event.
Representatives of SUIBE exchanged extensively with the otherparticipants on topics such as “is the ranking system destroyinguniversities”, “global dialogue-new model for cooperation onresearch and mobility in the next five years”, “educating globalcitizens for the future”, and “trend and strategic development foreducation”, and sought opportunities for international and regionalcooperation. With a view to deepening cooperation, VP Nie had morethan 10 meetings with delegates from HAN University of AppliedSciences, the Study Abroad Foundation, University of Wollongong,Seoul National University of Science and Technology, the College ofBusiness of RMIT, and other universities and institutions.
With 283 member universities with worldwide reputation,international organizations and associations, APAIE is aninternational non-profit organization founded in March, 2006 atKorea University by 13 universities in the Asia Pacific including), Korea University, Waseda University, National University ofSingapore, Chinese University of Hong Kong, University of Auckland,Renmin University of China, etc. Its mission is to advanceinternational education and to bring sustainable partnerships andnetworks among the educators in the Asia Pacific region.
